The Inaugural AngularJS Toronto Meetup

Talks by Matias Niemelä, Nick Van Weerdenburg, Peter Vernigorov and Max Kremer

Over 200 people attended the first ever AngularJS Toronto Meetup at the office of Polar Mobile in Toronto for talks on next-gen web architecture, cross-platform mobile gaming and cloud software vending. Since the first event, the AngularJS Toronto Meetup group has gone on to have a membership of 1400+ people.

Nick Van Weerdenburg of Rangle.io: next-generation web architecture. The 5D's of AngularJS: A high-level overview of why AngularJS is so impressive, why it is so different, and why you should care.

Peter Vernigorov of Uken.com: cross-platform mobile gaming with AngularJS. Uken is using angular to build their newest games and are super excited about it. Topics covered include AngularJS for mobile, non-http protocol for server communication, and using advanced CSS3 animations.

Max Kremer of TrialFire.com: A discussion of how a cloud software vendor can drive new business. Max will give an introduction to application development with AngularJS and the Scala Play Framework for Java, applying the knowledge, paradigms and patterns learned from a decade of application development on the J2EE stack.

Matias Niemelä of Yearofmoo.com: ngAnimate and Full-scale Animations in AngularJS. Matias will give an overview of the new ng-animate and full-scale animation features in AngularJS.

Nick Van Weerdenburg is Rangle.io’s founder, first developer, and now leads the company's business development and strategy activities. Nick has 15 years of experience in web software in diverse roles and industries, first did server-side JavaScript in 1997, and is a firm believer in the thin-server, full-JavaScript stack. Matias Niemelä is a core developer on the AngularJS project, working primarily on animations, tutorials and documentation as well as core-level contributions. While not working on AngularJS, Matias raises the bar on tech blogging via his website yearofmoo.com.
